I haven’t felt like my money has been this well spent in a nail salon visit in months but today Unilocal has really succeeded in leading me to a STELLAR find. Serenity nail salon epitomizes its name and the management/owners have done an impeccable job with the décor. He was not very talkative but honestly I enjoyed the serene instrumental music, the beautiful setting, and the awesome massage chair so much that it was nice to feel like a princess in my own peaceful little world. Sunny took my direction for how I like my nails shaped and polished and was very nice and kind during our entire encounter. The massage chair was the best I’ve experienced and Sunny took his time with my foot treatment using all new tools that were promptly discarded in the trash after being used on me. I was offered soda, juice, water, hot tea, or wine which I’ve come to enjoy when having my nails done and then I enjoyed thee absolute most relaxing pedicure EVER. I was warmly greeted and directed to a massive selection of polish to choose a color. Some places have executed my nails well and stunk with my pedicure and visa versa but not here. This is it!!! SUNNY did an awesome job with both my nails and pedicure which has been a constant problem trying to find lately. I’ve been in search of a reasonably priced nail salon that has great customer service, a nice setting, skilled technicians and allows for me to enjoy my bi weekly «me time» in a fairly quick while still detail oriented visit. Would definitely go back again and recommend to others. The artist who worked on me was super friendly and really took her time on my nails. But I will definitely not go on a Saturday unless I have no other chance to go. So overall I will still continue to go to this location, they do good work and are all very friendly with relatively good prices. It’s now the following day and all I my fingers are enflamed by the cuticles, red and puffy. However this time he cut everyone of my fingers and when he used the cube to buffer the nails he rubbed the rough surface on my skin and it really hurt. I’ve had him before and he was super nice and friendly and did a good job. The gentleman who took care of me was very obviously annoyed with the workload and took it out on my fingers. But this time I went on a Saturday and it was busy. This was my third time going to this location as ice always had a good experience. Updating my below review unfortunately negatively. Other than that l was very satisfied with the price and the overall experience that they give and l would definitely recommend and return and l plan on looking for Angel.:-) She seems to be a little heavy handed and l think she could have left that part out. I wasn’t crazy about how she pulled on each toe separately. Angel was very good with only one exception. It was the best pedicure that l have had in a long time and the rub down and massage to my legs and feet was again so relaxing. I decided to go with the milk and honey scrub which was $ 45. My tech name was Angel and she was exactly that! They have a list of pedicure services that they show you once you are seated. I was asked if the water temperature was good. I opted for the water since it was a warm day out. On the list was a bottle of water, coffee, or soda. I couldn’t ask for better service than that. Yessss finally! ! They also autoclave there instruments and open the bag in front of you. Now talk about not passing along the germs. I was seated right away and they put a plastic liner in the pedicure tub before you. So l pulled up the reviews and was like okay lets get this started. This place is AMAZING! I had a Dr’s appointment near by and l was way overdue with my pedicure.

Like Prime95, IntelBurn Test also gets some flack for pushing the processor further than necessary. IntelBurn Test is another CPU stress testing tool that will help you push your CPU to the max in order to determine if it is stable. There is a 30-day free trial, though, so if you only need to use it right now then you won’t have to pay for it. For a basic license (that can be used on up to 3 computers), Aida64 costs $34.99 which, while not expensive, is probably not an ideal option for the majority of users who will only use the stress test a handful of times. The only problem with Aida64 is that it isn’t free. Whereas Prime95’s torture test can push your processor to operate in an unrealistic manner, Aida64 takes a more practical approach by mimicking real-world processes that place a 100% load on your processor to test how it will hold up. However, while Prime95 was originally intended to find Mersenne prime numbers, the torture test that is included in the program (which helps ensure correct operation when searching for Mersenne prime numbers) has been adopted by many hardware enthusiasts to help them stress test their processor (and memory)-especially after overclocking their CPU and memory.Īida64 is another CPU stress test tool that a lot of users prefer over Prime95. Prime95 was developed by GIMPS, a computing project aimed at finding new Mersenne prime numbers (any prime number that can be the result of the equation: 2 n − 1). If you’re looking to stress test your CPU, whether to check how stable your processor is running after overclocking it or to check and see if there is a cooling issue on your CPU, the tools listed below will help you get the information you need. With HWiNFO64 you can track temperatures and other information on your CPU, GPU, RAM, and motherboard, as well as track fan speeds, component loads, and plenty more. HWiNFO64 is one of the more advanced hardware monitoring tools out there as it allows you to monitor multiple core components in your system. Like Core Temp and GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner is free to use. Along with being able to provide you with much of the same information that GPU-Z offers you, MSI Afterburner will also let you overclock your GPU, set custom fan profiles, run in-game benchmarks, and even record gameplay video or take in-game screenshots. However, it dubs itself as being a graphics card ‘utility tool’ because of all of the other features it comes with. MSI Afterburner is another graphics card hardware monitoring tool. With GPU-Z you can monitor the temperatures and load on your GPU, as well as your GPU’s clock speed, onboard memory clock speed, fan speed, and the amount of memory being used among other things. GPU-Z is similar to Core Temp, except that instead of monitoring your CPU, GPU-Z will, obviously, monitor your GPU. And, there are a few different handy plugins available for Core Temp that expand its capabilities, including an add-on that allows you to sync your RGB lights to the temperature of your processor or to its load, and a remote server plugin (for remote access), However, for AMD temperatures it just shows a single temperature for the entire CPU.Ĭore Temp also provides you with some basic info on your processor and tells you the voltage and frequency your CPU is running at as well. If you have an Intel processor, Core Temp will also provide readings for the temperature and load on each individual core on your CPU. Core TempĬore Temp is a nice lightweight CPU monitoring tool that will provide you with real-time CPU temperature readings and load percentages on your processor. The following tools can be used in unison with the benchmarks listed below in order to give you more information while you benchmark your computer. While running stress tests on your system, it’s a good idea to monitor your system’s temperature and load levels. Which Stress Test Tool Should You Use? Hardware Monitoring Tools to Use While Running Stress Tests Plus with tools like Docker, you can always scale sideways when your application failed to scale upwards. These days Javascript still doesn't support threading but it does have other primitives that do a reasonable job of compensating. However without tools like Docker nor any decent way of running parallel execution stacks (nor a first class web server supporting Node ala mod_perl / mod_php / phpfpm / et al) it meant Javascript was simply not a good language for backend development for a relatively long time because the tooling wasn't there and the language lacked the primitives to compensate (like how Python, Perl and Ruby could all self host their own threaded web server). In fact I'm pretty sure Node was just a hobby project where some guys thought "Chrome's JS VM can run headless - lets see where this takes us." (this part may be incorrect but I have a vague recollection of that being the case). But JS definitely did not suite backend development when Node was first being deployed. Plus in the early days we didn't need anything particularly pretty anyway. Javascript has always made some sense for frontend development - it might not be the best designed language from an academic perspective but it suited browser scripting well enough to get the job done. Let's also circle back to my point about the right tools for the job. frontend developers wanted to reuse the same language for front and back (often because they simply didn't want to learn another language). it was too difficult to get any other language first class support for browser scripting (the reasons for that are obvious)Ģ. So the reasons node gained any momentum in the early days was simply because:ġ. Back in the early days of Node it was complete garbage but people stuck with it because they wanted a single language to rule them all and browsers wouldn't support anything beyond JS (despite how crappy JS was back then). Your rhetoric - while lacking a lot of technical content - are valid for the current state of play but not the question being asked. I don't disagree that Javascript has evolved into a first class language now but it hasn't always been. "The difficulty lies not in grasping the new ideas, but letting go of the old." To write it all off, clinging to comforting notions that what we mastered a decade or more ago is the best - let alone only - way to do it? But also progress, evolution, improvement. Of course the signal:noise ratio in the world of modern web and mobile dev is suboptimal there's so much churn and noise and froth. As is dismissing the real (and amazing) progress and expansion of possibilities inherent in the accelerating changes in front-end technology. "The right tool for the job", yes, of course - but why would you insist that a particular set of traditional architectural constraints must needs be permanently enforced at the level of language and runtime? Being locked into a "3-tier architecture, server-side" perspective is a common trap for many senior developers. I think you misunderstood me, or we're talking past each other a bit here I've been at it professionally since about 1998, so any difference in perspective is unlikely to be age-related - at least in the sense of depth of experience with the tradition. Deno looks promising and I hope people will be building better frameworks on top of that. SailJS was a good attempt at Rails but it's way too restrictive with its patterns (and sadly the documentation is not good). Instead of making the argument "NodeJS is bad" you should aim that at the frameworks of NodeJS. And yes, Rails has advantage with this but I think you made that argument clear. And "code hacked together" is only a problem with bad programmers, you can get working and secure code with NodeJS, it just needs thought put into it. And you don't want to install every basic package by hand? But have them already included? You understand that adds quite a bit of bloat to projects that have no need for eg CORS or body-parser. It's perhaps too non-restrictive but well, hopefully there's somebody in your company showing you the right way. The inventing part is what drives most developers crazy, and it did for me too. Once you figure out the pattern that works for you, it gets simpler. There was some initial burden I admit with NodeJS but I have at least got to the productive plateau (with TypeScript). And NodeJS is not fixed to some specific framework that forces you to do things in one way. You're complaining about frameworks, not NodeJS the runtime. I agree that something like Rails has its own benefits, but I can't really take seriously this type of complaining when it's directed at the wrong thing. A popular framework which you probably used with NodeJS is Express, that as its documentation states tries to be a minimal framework for creating NodeJS servers. Like others have mentioned, this is an apple vs orange comparison. If you are streaming dynamic, fast-moving content with multiple effects or scene changes then you might want to compare the hardware encoded quality against the software encoded quality for best results. The main tradeoff is that the bitrate will be higher and the quality might not be as good - although it’s rarely a noticeable difference. Using hardware encoding, when available, is generally a good idea as it will free up your CPU for other tasks. This is called "hardware encoding" or "GPU-Accelerated encoding." NVENC is made by NVIDIA and will be available if you have a NVIDIA graphics card installed in your computer. "Quicksync" is made by Intel and comes with many of its CPUs that have an integrated graphics card (on Macs it’s called "Apple H.264"). You won’t see these options unless you have these chips in your computer. "Apple H.264," "Quicksync" or "NVENC" use chips on your graphics card, also known as your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to encode and compress the video. This is sometimes called "software encoding." This generally allows the computer to make “smarter” decisions when choosing what information to include and what information to get rid of when encoding your video stream and allows it to maintain the best quality:size (bitrate) ratio. "x264" uses the computer’s Central Processing Unit (CPU) to do all the encoding. In the screenshot here, you can see that I chose between "x264" and "Apple H.264." On Windows, you might see "Quicksync" or "NVENC" in addition to "x264." Depending on the hardware in your computer you will see between 2 and 6 different encoding options based on these settings. They only allow (or recommend) 720 HD video in either 30 frames or 60 frames per second.īy default, Wirecast will limit you to Facebook’s preferred settings. On another note, if you don’t know what "encoding" means in relation to video and audio or live streaming, you probably will want to read this article.Īlthough you don’t necessarily need to change anything, we'll discuss it now, so you have an idea of what the settings do and how they work.įacebook is quite strict on the size and quality settings of any live video you stream to the site via the Live API. The aircraft continued to slide on the road, hitting multiple rental cars, a railroad embankment, and three occupied vehicles before bursting into flames as it hit a railroad and an overpass on I-94. The plane was still rolling to the left when it collided with the ground, Middlebelt Road. Witnesses reported that the plane was at a 90-degree left wing down position when it struck a roof. The pole sliced a four or five-foot chunk off of the left wing and the plane continued to roll to the left. Witnesses say that after rolls between 15 degrees and 90 degrees, the plane’s wings leveled off before veering violently to the left and striking a light pole in a rental car parking lot. The witnesses also stated that the flight rotation began about 1,200-1,500 feet from the end of the runway and that the tail of the aircraft came close to striking the runway.Īfter the airplane was airborne, it began rolling from left to right. Witnesses of Flight 255 agreed that the takeoff roll was longer than what is normal in similar airplane takeoffs. The autothrottle system failing to engage was the first red flag, with the stall warning being the second. First Officer Dodds called “rotate” at 8:45 and a second later, the stall warning stick shaker activated and continued operating until the recording ended.Īccording to the crash report, all of these issues in the takeoff ultimately contributed to the overall system failure. However, the recording also revealed that the flight crew had trouble engaging the autothrottle system at first, but did engage the system moments later. Recordings in the cockpit indicate that the engine power began increasing immediately after the all-clear for takeoff. At 8:44 p.m., Flight 255 was cleared for takeoff. After missing a turn, the pilots contacted ground control who then redirected them back to runway 3C. While the plane was taxiing, the pilots got a little lost on their way to the runway. Basically, all of this technical mumbo jumbo just means that as long as the pilots set their flaps to 11 degrees, their plane would safely get off the ground even with their high takeoff weight and short runway. The final takeoff weight for Flight 255′s airplane was 144,047. The chart showed that if the flaps were set to 11 degrees, the maximum allowable takeoff weights for runway 3C was 147,500 pounds. Their takeoff weight had to be below the allowable limits for runway 3C. Related: Hank Winchester: It’s hard to believe it’s been 35 years since Flight 255 crashed on I-94 First Officer Dodds had to refer to the company’s Runway Takeoff Weight Chart Manual. Captain Maus asked his first officer to verify that they could use runway 3C for takeoff. Runway 3C was the shortest of the three available runways. However, the flight had been instructed by ground control to taxi to runway 3C. The takeoff performance data that was in the flight crew’s package was based on using either runway 21L or 21R. About ten minutes before the flight was due to depart the gate, a company transportation agent brought the flight release package to the airplane. Dodds, a 35-year-old from Galena, Illinois, picked up their aircraft, a McDonnell Douglas MD-82, that had just finished a leg with stops in Minneapolis and Saginaw, and prepared for their flight to Phoenix. Maus, a 57-year-old from Las Vegas, and First Officer David J. Here is a look back at this Southeast Michigan tragedy. Flight 255 is the seventh deadliest plane crash in United States history, and is the deadliest aviation disaster to have a sole survivor. The aircraft took off from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, and was airborne for all of 14 seconds before the crash along Middlebelt Road and I-94. It’s been 35 years since Northwest Airlines Flight 255 crashed onto I-94, killing all but one passenger. Watching this trailer for upcoming online shooter Quake Champions, my heart leaped when I heard the familiar refrain in that familiar bass voice: "Excellent." Worf! You're back! No. I believed that to be the case for so long, having been told it was so by someone at university. This game is clearly a great Quake spin-off.I do not believe that I shall ever come to terms with the fact that Quake III's announcer was not, in fact, voiced by Michael Dorn. Master Arena is for many types of players, allowing even the slowest players be able to use tactical perks to fit their playstyle. Whether they want to play Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Arena Royale, Domination, and Race, there's a mode for every kind of player to experience. Master Arena is a fresh new experience for any Quake veterans, and players of arena shooters in general. This can make for some fun minigames for parties or friends to enjoy, and could also lead to some great YouTube content. Even with these developer arenas, it's also easy for players to create their own maps and share it through the Steam workshop for everybody to enjoy. It is designed to be easy for any beginner to pick up and play.Įven though the game is still in early access, Master Arena boasts an impressive six game modes and nine different maps, with plenty classic Quake-like modes with an iconic 30-player free-for-all included. Even with these complicated movement abilities and perk system, the developers insist that while it still is attractive to Quake veterans, it is also very friendly and welcoming to players new to the arena shooter genre. In Quake 3, moving around the map quickly is key, so Master Arena's perk system and movement abilities could be a total game-changer. In the arena shooter genre, movement is everything. Abilities such as movement speed can be changed to a player's liking. Players can usually go even further into customization, changing their guns, perks, stats, and even mutators to change their gameplay and playstyle. In some modes, players will be able to choose what class they want to be, whether that's a fast scout or a big tank. The perk system in Master Arena can be different depending on what mode someone is playing. Related: Quake, DOOM, Or Wolfenstein: Which Was The FIRST Shooter? This also means players can experiment with different perks and abilities to see which ones they like best. This system could mean that every game is unlike the last one, and will require a lot of skill and practice for anyone hoping to be competitive. A few examples of these perks include invisibility, teleportation, and frag grenades to explode any unsuspecting opponent. Master Arena's gameplay brings highly dodge-based movement with an innovative perk system that is completely new to the arena shooter genre. This system uses two pulleys, each consisting of two conical halves. The first type of motorcycle transmission that doesn’t require manual shifting is a continuously variable transmission, or CVT, which is common in scooters. Types of automatic transmissions in motorcycles Broadly speaking they fall into four categories. But fortunately, for those who want to ride but can't or don't want to learn to shift gears, there are some alternatives to manual transmissions that allow you to go shiftless. We're using “automatic transmission” in a generic way, here, since the transmissions in motorcycles that don't require manual shifting are different from what is typically found in cars. market if you want one, motorcycles with automatic transmissions are still rare. And while it's getting to be almost impossible to find a car with a manual transmission in the U.S. This means riders who might otherwise stay in the saddle for years more are dropping out of motorcycling.īottom line: Manual motorcycle transmissions constitute a hurdle too high for some people wishing to get into motorcycling, as well as some wishing to stay in it. So daunting, in fact, that a good argument can be made for it being one of the biggest things keeping the sport from growing.Īt the other end of the experience spectrum, veteran riders who've been affected by age or injury or people with disabilities might find it hard to pull in a clutch lever or operate a shift pedal. Learning to shift a motorcycle transmission - coordinating the clutch, the engine rpm, and the shift pedal - might be the most daunting task faced by prospective new riders. |
